MINNEAPOLIS — It's been a tough year for local nonprofits and some small businesses, and that's especially true for a local shop that straddles both worlds.
Wildflyer Coffee , which has spent years serving customers and offering support to young people struggling with homelessness, is now looking to the community for support after losing a major funding source.
"In July, we found out that our biggest government contracts got cut in half," said Wildflyer Coffee's founder, Carley Kammerer.
For eight years, Wildflyer has occupied a unique space in the Twin Cities community, even before it had a space of its own.
"We started as a coffee cart in 2017," said founder Carley Kammerer. "It felt like the right risk to take."
