CLEMSON — Clemson tight end Ian Schieffelin was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence, the football program confirmed.
Because of the arrest, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said the 6-foot-7 senior and former All-ACC basketball forward will be sidelined when the season starts.
There were no immediate details on where and when exactly the arrest occurred, but the team’s statement said no one else was involved and no one was injured.
Clemson football broke camp this week after a Friday practice, and the Tigers were slated to have Aug. 16 off before returning on Aug. 17 to begin preparing for the opener.
