CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Jon Teig is an institution at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Teig is in his 25th year at the Kernels’ bat boy. On Sunday, Cedar Rapids honored “Jon-Jon” with a game dedicated to him.

1,000 fans received a “Jon-Jon” figurine entering the ballpark; Teig got to throw out the first pitch, and received several video messages from former Kernels on the stadium video board.

On the field, the Kernels scored six runs in the middle three innings to outscore the Quad Cities River Bandits 6-3.

Jamie Ferrer opened the scoring for Cedar Rapids with an RBI double in the fourth inning.

Kyle DeBarge finished with four hits and three RBIs.

The Kernels move to 64-50 on the season, taking five games out of seven from the River Bandits.
