PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A community came together Sunday evening to mark one year since Paulding County Deputy Brandon Cunningham was killed in the line of duty.

Sheriff Ashley Henson told the crowd of more than 100 people that he wants them to focus on the way the deputy lived, not the way he died.

"Obviously, he died tragically in the line of duty, but let's remember the good things, all the fun things, the quirky things, you know, his love of shoes, things like that," Henson said. "So, that's what I want people to remember, not the way he died in such a violent tragedy."

The service was held outside the Paulding County Sheriff's Office. Many people wore blue in Cunningham's honor.
