Colombian-Venezuelan international analyst María Fernanda Barreto denounced that some European foundations fund organizations and leaders in Latin America to promote discourse attacking leftist governments in power, specifically in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.

During an interview with VTV, Barreto explained that, although these foundations receive support from left-wing and progressive parties, their agendas are inconsistent with the discourse. He cited the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, which receives funding from the German left-wing party, Die Linke, as an example.

"There are people who advocate for no intervention in Venezuela, but there are others within Die Linke itself who have even gone so far as to call for more unilateral coercive measures and foreign intervention," the analyst
