INDIANAPOLIS — Local police are responding after a hate group marched through the streets of downtown Indianapolis over the weekend.

Chief of IMPD , Chris Bailey, posted a full statement on social media Sunday night highlighting that the demonstration "has no home in our community."

While the chief did mention that safeguarding First Amendment rights is part of the police force's responsibilities, he made it clear that IMPD does not endorse the beliefs of this specific group demonstrating their rights.

"Hate may try to march in our streets, but it will never dictate the spirit of our city," Bailey said in his recent statement.
