DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Durham City Council leaders are set to meet Monday to discuss the future of the former Northgate Mall property.
The site, which has been abandoned since the mall's closure in 2020 , is slated for redevelopment.
The mall, built in 1960, shut down due to financial difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Northwood Investors, which purchased the property in 2018, is planning to redevelop the site, though many details remain uncertain.
A 2021 survey revealed that some Walltown residents hope to see affordable housing and additional green spaces included in the redevelopment plans.
