A Benton Township man was arrested early Sunday after striking a police vehicle while allegedly driving intoxicated, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue. A Dodge Charger driven by a 28-year-old Benton Township resident was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and hit the side of a fully marked Benton Township Police patrol car.

The patrol car was driven by a Benton Township Police sergeant, who sustained minor injuries. The sergeant was treated at Corewell Hospital in St. Joseph and later released.
