ST. LOUIS — Prosecutors have charged a man with murder in a 2022 shooting outside a gas station in the Fountain Park neighborhood of St. Louis.

Malachi D. Ezell, 22, was charged Friday with first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

He is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Brandon Murphy at a Crown Mart gas station on June 21, 2022. Murphy was in the driver's seat of a sedan parked at the gas station, at 930 North Kingshighway.

Another person in the car was shot in the abdomen but survived.

Murphy lived in the 5900 block of Goodfellow Boulevard.

Court records said Ezell and another person walked up to the car and opened fire. Police spokeswoman Evita Caldwell said no one else has been arrested or charged in Murphy's death.
