THREE students have been kicked out of university and ordered to do 11 months of "corrective labour" for twerking in front of a Moscow cathedral.

The three young women posted a video of the moment on TikTok , but the authorities have responded with an iron fist.

It comes as part of a traditional values crackdown sweeping Russia under Vladimir Putin .

The trio, who are believed to be 18, were convicted of "petty hooliganism" for the act.

They were expelled from their Russian university for "violating public order and insulting the religious feelings of citizens".

For punishment, they've been sentenced to 11 months of "corrective labour", according to reports.

The Stroganov Russian State University of Art and Industry acted following an outcry from Orthodox campaigners .
