OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - As summer wraps up, the Nebraska State Patrol is taking part in a safety campaign.

The goal of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is to reduce the number of crashes caused by drunk or dangerous driving, a release states.

NSP reports that since Memorial Day, troopers have arrested 318 people for driving under the influence. Authorities note that this adds up to an average of four impaired driving arrests per day this summer.

Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, says the end of the season brings many high traffic events in the state.

“From kids going back to school, to the State Fair, to the start of Husker football and volleyball, the next few weeks will include increased traffic in many areas of the state,” Col. Wau
