Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning expressed Beijing's support for Russia and the United States' ongoing contacts aimed at improving their relations on Monday.

During the usual news conference The spokesperson was asked about the meeting in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump.

Mao emphasized that China "is pleased to see Russia and the United States maintaining contact, improving their relations, and promoting a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis." He also stressed that Beijing supports all efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

The spokesperson added that China hopes all relevant parties and stakeholders will participate in peace talks and work toward achieving a fair, lasting, and mutually acceptable
