ATLANTA — A public memorial service for the DeKalb County Police officer killed in the line of duty were announced Monday by county officials.
Officer David Rose was gunned down during the shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Aug. 8. The attack triggered a shelter in place at the nearby Emory University campus off Clifton Road and CDC Parkway. CDC officials said the gunman opened fire on several of its buildings.
While no civilians were hurt, Rose died from his injuries in the shooting.
A DeKalb County spokesperson announced that Rose's funeral will take place on Friday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Atlanta. The memorial service is open to the public and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to arrive ear
