Traffic on the A52 Clifton Bridge
The A52 Clifton Bridge, a major route to the M1 from Nottingham, was closed for several hours after a major structural issue was identified on its central reservation on Monday (August 18).
National Highways engineers were called in to repair a "bridge joint" on the bridge's surface. A significant repair was made so that the bridge could reopen while a permanent solution could be scheduled at a future date. Three lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway and the road had reopened by 5pm.
