GRAND BAHAMA (Gray News) – Two American cruise passengers drowned at Carnival Cruise’s newly opened private island in the Bahamas - Celebration Key.

Officers with the Royal Bahamas Police Force found a 79-year-old man unresponsive Friday, shortly before noon local time, according to a news release shared on Facebook.

Police said the tourist was snorkeling at a beach at the time. A lifeguard helped him out of the water and gave him CPR, but he died.

A couple hours later, officers found an unresponsive 74-year-old woman from a different cruise ship just after 2:30 p.m. local time.
