After four heatwaves this year, the UK is on track to see one of the hottest meteorological summers on record, 'if not the hottest'. ‌

The UK’s mean temperature from June 1 to August 17 currently stands at 16.2C, which is a worrying 1.6C above the long-term meteorological average. While conditions may change before the end of summer (August 31), it is likely that 2025 will top the charts as one of the hottest since records began in 1884. ‌

Scots have seen several spells of extremely hot weather this year, with the mercury surpassing 30C numerous times throughout the summer. Last week saw Scots temperatures creeping towards the thirties, with Glasgow seeing piping 29C weather on Wednesday, August 13. ‌
