PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha is reviewing the arrest of a Special Assistant Attorney General by Newport police.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan was arrested outside a city restaurant by Newport police on Thursday night for alleged trespassing.

In a statement from the attorney general’s office, Director of Communications Tim Rondeau said in part:

The Office immediately began a review of the incident, which we anticipate will conclude within the next few days. At this time, we are unable to comment further on this matter as it relates to personnel issues.

According to the AG’s office, Flanagan has been employed with the office for seven years and works in the Appellate Unit of the Criminal Division.
