PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence is now home to the Ocean State’s newest tool in tackling crime, while keeping the public well-informed.
Over the weekend, Mayor Brett Smiley and Police Chief Oscar Perez announced the launch of the “Real-Time Crime Center.”
Providence police said the facility will improve safety through “state-of-the-art technology,” including real-time data-sharing and advanced analytics.
The center is located at the public safety complex and was funded in part by a million dollar earmark secured by Senator Jack Reed.
