The District of Saanich says it may take commuters longer to travel along Prospect Lake Road as a four-week road closure to replace a culvert is now in effect.

Approximately 200 metres of the road – from 4385 to 4433 Prospect Lake Rd. – is temporarily closed to all vehicles from Aug. 18 to Sept. 12, resulting in a “significant detour,” the district said in an earlier notice.

It says the detour will take about 25 minutes of driving time to complete the full detour route, with residents urged to “plan travel accordingly” and use Interurban Road, Helmcken Road and Burnside Road West during construction.
