CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced today the awarding of more than $2.5 million in grants to support programs across West Virginia that address child abuse, neglect and sexual assault.

Of the total funding, more than $2.1 million was distributed among 22 programs focused on child abuse and neglect. Additionally, almost $400,000 was allocated for programs addressing and prosecuting sexual assault cases.

"These programs work tirelessly from the first report to the final resolution of a case," Morrisey said. "This funding will support the men and women who provide life-changing services such as advocacy, education, forensic interviews, therapy and medical evaluations to West Virginia's most vulnerable."
