EUGENE, Ore. - A new gym dedicated to supporting people living with Parkinson's disease is opening in Eugene. The Oregon Parkinson Warriors Foundation is launching this facility to provide targeted exercise programs aimed at managing symptoms and improving quality of life, organizers said.
Lori Havas, the program director and founder of the Oregon Parkinson Warriors Foundation, initiated the project after local classes lost their space.
"I knew that we needed a Parkinson's dedicated gym here in Eugene. We had 60 people that needed a place to go. And when we were told when we needed to find a new home for our classes, I didn't know what to do. So I started a nonprofit and started working towards getting our own gym," Havas said.
