On Monday, August 18, the Orinoco River reached red alert levels in the Independencia municipality of Anzoátegui state, affecting more than 420 families.
According to Mayor Hernán Rodríguez, the number of families affected by the flooding in the Costo del Orinoco region rose to 333, and in the Mamo parish, another 89 families were identified as affected by the flooding, including the Carapa, Botalón, Macapaima, Pajuil, Los Pozos, and Taguache sectors.
The municipal leader indicated that supervision and social assistance efforts continue in vulnerable areas affected by the historic flood this year.
