GADSDEN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - An electronic monitoring device found in grass next to a roadway in Etowah County belonged to a man recently placed on supervised release from state prison, according to court records.

James Oliver Lumpkin is charged with disable monitoring device.

Lumpkin was convicted in September 2024 on second-degree theft of property and third-degree theft of property. He was sentenced to 38 months suspended to serve 24 months of supervised probation.

Lumpkin was accused of violating the terms of his probation in October, and in February 2025, a judge ordered him to serve the remainder of his sentence in prison, according to court records.
