SPOKANE, Wash. – In memory of Sergeant Kenneth Salas, flags at all Washington state agency facilities will be lowered to half-staff on Wed., Aug. 20.

Sergeant Salas, 59, of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, died in the line of duty on Aug. 9. He served the Sheriff's Office for 34 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Washington State Air National Guard.

Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Aug. 20. Other government entities, businesses and individuals are encouraged to join in this recognition.

A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center.
