PROVIDENCE – Workers at Butler Hospital have reached a tentative deal with management to end the three-month-long strike .

More than 800 frontline staff at the psychiatric hospital, represented by Service Employees International Union 1199NE , were affected when the union’s contract expired in March. Union members began the strike on May 15, which became one of the longest-lasting strikes in state history.

“On behalf of both Butler Hospital and members of the bargaining committee representing all job classifications of the hospital, we are pleased to share that a tentative agreement has been reached. More details will be forthcoming in the coming days,” the hospital and the union shared in a joint statement on Aug. 18.
