CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Months after Javier Lee Martinez Hernandez was found dead from multiple gunshots outside the Mi Cabana bar on Eastway Drive, one of the suspects has officially been arrested , police said.

The deadly shooting at the east Charlotte nightclub happened on April 13.

Jefry Edgardo Gonzales Artica was arrested on Aug. 14 and charged with first-degree murder. CMPD identified him as a suspect and issued warrants for his arrest back in June.

According to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Commission, police were called to Mi Cabana 28 times since July 2023. The club's liquor licenses were revoked following April's homicide. The commission said Kim To, the bar manager, got patrons to leave after Hernandez was shot several times. She reportedly did so by turning off the lights
