AVALON — With high winds and a high tide driving waves into the roadway Monday afternoon, police closed the Townsends Inlet Bridge connecting the community with Sea Isle City to the north.

The bridge access closed a little after 2 p.m., and Wahl expected it to reopen after the tide recedes.
