TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Santa Rita Fire District was deployed to support crews battling the Washington Fire in the Tonto National Forest.

In the night of Aug. 17, SRFD crews deployed a Type 6 engine to assist in the wildfire response happening on the Payson Ranger District, officials said.

According to latest reports, the Washington Fire is at zero percent containment and has burned almost 600 acres. SRFD Engine Boss Turner, and firefighters Maloy and Quijada, are working alongside crews to protect property and lives from the wildfire, officials said.

SRFD crews are also continuing their support on the Goodwin Fire, located in the San Carlos Apache Forest, with an Advanced Life Support ambulance, officials said. The two SRFD crew members, Ryan and Burris, have been providing medical
