VAIL, Ariz. (KVOA) - On August 22, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to Cienega High School after a report of a student carrying a weapon on campus.

Additional deputies joined the school resource officer to investigate. They learned the student had shown the weapon to another student, who reported it to school staff. The weapon was secured, and the student was safely separated from it.

During the investigation, deputies conducted a security sweep of the school. It was discovered that a second student had been involved with the weapon earlier in the week.
