A footpath bounded by hoardings will pass through a vast area left by a demolished shopping centre in the centre of Bolton .

Plans going in front of Bolton’s planning committee later this week include the demolition of the Crompton Place shopping centre, which is due to begin in January, taking around a year.

Once cleared, the council said part of the 1.55 hectare area, larger than the size of two football pitches, would have a ‘meanwhile use’ which would last for around seven years while redevelopment takes place behind.
