OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - An attempted murder suspect accused of crafting live homemade bombs and planting one on a person’s car is facing new charges after she allegedly plotted a jail escape with a man who is being charged as an accomplice.

Christina Willis, 27, an inmate at the Lafayette County Detention Center in Oxford, and her alleged accomplice, Mark Montgomery, 48, of Greenville, Mississippi, are both charged with conspiracy to escape custody.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office says that on Thursday, investigators received a tip from the jail about an inmate’s plan for an escape attempt.

Both Willis and Montgomery were charged after investigators spoke with witnesses and gathered more information.

Willis has been in custody since Monday, August 4, following a federal search war
