On the latest episode of “Wolverine Confidential” podcast, MLive’s Ryan Zuke and Aaron McMann analyzed the penalties the NCAA levied on Michigan and several staff members over the sign-stealing scandal that has cast a dark cloud over the program for the past two years.

But the podcast crew also dove into more details of the NCAA’s 74-page report released Friday, and there were some elements of the investigation that caught McMann and Zuke’s eye.

Among them was a deeply fractured dynamic between the football program and the school’s compliance department.

“It came up several times during this report about how Michigan’s compliance department basically felt boxed out by Michigan’s football program – not welcomed, not invited,” McMann said on the latest podcast.
