Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes, the man accused in last month's attack on Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler, has been released from a psychiatric hospital and is back in Danville.

Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul said sheriff's deputies brought Buck-Hayes back to the Danville City Jail early Monday afternoon.

Buck-Hayes, 29, was arrested shortly after the July 30 incident in which Vogler was doused with gasoline and set on fire. He had been at Central State Hospital, a psychiatric facility in Dinwiddie County, since Aug. 1.

He was sent to to the facility after he was evaluated at Sovah Health-Danville by staff from Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services for displaying concerning behavior while in the Danville City Jail. He was then transported to the psychiatric facility.
