President Nicolás Maduro spoke out this Monday at an event with governors and mayors of the Great Patriotic Pole (Gran Polo Patriótico) regarding the threats made by the United States government against national integrity and against the country's leaders and institutions, following the false accusation that a drug cartel linked to the government operates in Venezuela.
“We defend our seas, our skies, and our lands. We liberate them and patrol them. No empire will come to touch the sacred soil of Venezuela, nor should it touch the sacred soil of South America,” the president said, referring to US threats.
"Never again will empires with their insolent stance touch Bolívar's sacred land. It's humiliation enough to have US military bases on Colombian soil," he reflected.
