The Islamist group Hamas confirmed it has accepted a 60-day ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, which would include a freeze on the group's military activities, the release of 10 Israeli hostages, and a massive influx of aid into the enclave to alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis.
"Hamas and the Palestinian factions announced their approval of the proposal presented yesterday by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators," the Palestinian group said in a brief statement, according to EFE.
The message comes after several Israeli and Arab media outlets reported that the Islamist militant group has approved the signing of a partial agreement, which includes the release of some of the hostages in the Strip and the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from the north and east of the enclave.
