CALDWELL, Idaho — A 51-year-old Caldwell man was arrested Monday evening in connection with a fatal shooting after his teenage son escaped their home and called police.

According to the Caldwell Police Department (CPD), Delbert Cornish was taken into custody without incident at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Mountain Home, about three and a half hours after Caldwell police responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Blaine Street.

The incident began shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, when the teen called 911 to report that his father was armed inside their home. According to police, the son told dispatchers he found Cornish with a gun when he arrived home.
