AUSTIN, Minn.- Overnight flooding closed several streets and parks along the Cedar River on Monday, Aug. 18.
According Steven Lang, Austin City Engineer, the effects of the weather were mostly on low lying streets and other pieces of public property.
"Those are some of our first areas that are impacted and those are really what we're seeing this morning," Lang said.
Affected streets and parks included Dreisner Park, Sutton Park, Marcusen Park, Lafayette Park, Oakland Place southeast and 9th Place southwest.
He says after flooding from the river or heavy rain City Public Works makes sure affected areas and monitors the effects on the local water level.
