During his introductory press conference as the North Carolina football coach, Bill Belichick said he thought his staff would be able to “attract a good quality player” on the recruiting trail.

So far, the 73-year-old coach has attracted several good, quality players ahead of his first season with the Tar Heels .

As of Aug. 18, UNC has a class of 36 commitments. That group ranks No. 17 nationally, according to the 247Sports composite rankings of the 2026 class. Only Clemson (15), Florida State (14) and Miami (12) have a higher-ranked class for 2026.
