NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Nelson County woman is facing serious charges after deputies say she intentionally started a fire in an attempt to kill her mother and boyfriend.
The sheriff’s office says 33-year-old Sarah Shelburne allegedly set the fire Saturday at a home on Little Union Road in Fairfield after an argument with her mother. Deputies say Shelburne admitted to starting the fire in an effort to kill both her boyfriend and mother.
Investigators say Shelburne also allegedly attacked a deputy while at the sheriff’s office. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday for an arraignment.
Shelburne faces charges of arson, attempted murder, assault, and terroristic threatening.
