One lighthouse exploded. Another was demolished. But the third has a story of survival. Out of the three lighthouses funded by Congress in 1870, Pomham Rocks Lighthouse stands today — almost entirely in its original historic beauty. Its preservation is due, in large part, to one young man whose childhood fascination with lighthouses turned into a lifelong mission.

“For Alex Dias, the newly elected President of Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse in Riverside, preserving the century-and-a-half-old light station has been a labor of love for nearly half his lifetime.
