SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- A teenager was killed and two other people were hurt in a shooting that happened Monday evening in Springfield.
The shooting happened in the area of 14th Street and Cornell Avenue. Springfield Police said in a news release Tuesday morning that officers responded to a report of a shooting at 5:51 p.m. and found three victims, all with gunshot wounds.
All of the victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Two of the victims' injuries were non-life-threatening, but the third victim was found unresponsive and later died at HSHS St. John's Hospital. The time of death was 6:52 p.m.
The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, said in a news release of his own that the deceased was an 18-year-old from Rochester. An autopsy is scheduled.
