CHARDON, Ohio — One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle rollover crash Friday morning at a Geauga County intersection slated for safety improvements, according to the Chardon Fire Department.

Fire officials said they were dispatched at 9:11 a.m. to the intersection of Route 608 and Chardon-Windsor Road, where crews found two heavily damaged vehicles. Two victims were able to get out of their vehicles on their own, but a third remained trapped.

Two people were taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, while a third victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
