PROSPERITY, S.C. (WBTV) - A person was shot and killed along a South Carolina interstate on Monday morning.

The shooting happened on I-26 West to Highway 773 in Newberry County, sometime before noon on Aug. 18.

The said 45-year-old Wilfrido George Luna shot a female -- whose age and name was not immediately released -- before he fled across multiple lanes, through a patch of trees and ended up at the Mid-Carolina Club golf course.

Authorities caught up to Luna at the golf course and arrested him after a short standoff in the parking lot -- all while a tournament was happening. Golfers were called off the course during the ordeal, and nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown.
