Summer lovers will hate to hear it but fall is creeping around the corner. Michigan’s apple harvest is stepping forward with an outstretched hand to guide you through the seasonal changes.

At least four Michigan apple varieties will be ready to harvest before Labor Day, according to Michigan Apple Committee’s 2025 harvest forecast.

Michigan’s apple harvest has shifted earlier over the last five to ten years as winters have become milder.

In the west side fruit belt, Crane Orchards in Allegan County announced Dandee Reds are available for picking as of Aug. 17.

On the east side of the state, Almar Orchards in Genesee County has Ginger Golds ready for harvest as of Aug. 17.

Be aware that early harvests mean you might miss your favorite variety if you delay.
