The suspect in a deadly downtown Birmingham shooting who was mistakenly released from the Jefferson County Jail will be held without bond, a judge has ruled.

Terance Akeem Alexander, 37, went before Jefferson County District Judge Kandice Pickett Monday for an Aniah’s Law bond hearing.

When it ended, Pickett ordered Alexander to remain jailed.

Alexander is charged with murder in the Aug. 8 slaying of 31-year-old Taevon Jamir Arnold . He is also charged with attempted murder in the wounding of a woman in the same incident.

The judge said in her order, which was made public Tuesday, that there is probable cause to believe Alexander committed the crimes.

She also noted that at the time of his arrest, Alexander was out on bond in four drug cases and that he has a prior felony convictio
