Organizations will be able to apply soon for grant funds awarded to the city of Fort Wayne from a national opioid settlement.

The grants will fund efforts related to helping people overcome opioid and substance addiction. The city said today in a news release that this will be the first window to apply for the funds the city is scheduled to receive through 2038.

The window to apply for funds will open Sept. 2 and close at midnight Oct. 2, the release said. A sample application is available online at http://bit.ly/3JkBGZ3 .

The applications will then be reviewed by the National Opioid Settlement Committee that was created by Mayor Sharon Tucker in partnership with City Council earlier this year.
