UPDATE: A Chattanooga man who police say confessed to his role in a deadly shooting at an area motel on August 8 appeared in court on Tuesday.

The suspect, 64-year-old Guster Lee Harfield, is accused of shooting a 43-year-old man to death at Motel 6 in the 7700 block of Lee Highway.

Police said Harfield confessed to the shooting during questioning and was charged with first degree murder.

During a court appearance on August 19, the case against Harfield was sent to a grand jury and his bond was set at $2-million.

He remains in the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
