Dearborn — A measure to change Dearborn's City Council structure from all at-large seats to a ward-based system will go before voters in November after a group pushing for the change submitted enough signatures to get the measure on the ballot.

The group, Dearborn Wants Wards, submitted 8,088 signatures since June. Should voters pass the measure in November, it would take effect in 2029. A petition for a ballot question requires valid signatures from 5% of the city's registered voters, or nearly 3,900 people in Dearborn.

"We're very confident in this ballot measure," said Mona Mawari, the campaign's lead organizer. "The people have spoken and have said very clearly that they want this, and we should just let the course of democracy run through."
