MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Minot Public Schools will kick off the school year on Wednesday, and there’s some good news with teacher staffing.
Superintendent Scott Faul told us the district hired 50 new teachers, which makes a fully staffed team.
Faul said this puts the schools in “good shape” compared to previous years.
He also mentioned kindergarten numbers are lower than usual. The district used to have more than 600 kids, but it’s at around 575 as of last week.
“Our teaching rosters are based on student counts and where we’re at. We have a smaller kindergarten section right now, and so we’ve got some smaller sections of kindergarten, but we feel like we’re fully staffed right now,” said Faul.
There are 45 job openings listed on the district’s website .
