MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Classes are officially back in session for in Minot Public School District.

In addition to new teachers, new routines and new classmates, there are some changes in the lunchroom.

This year, the Minot Public School District is seeing a few adjustments when it comes to sugar.

“We have new sugar guidelines for three of our products: cereal, yogurt and milk,” said Ivy Thorson.

Child Nutrition Director Ivy Thorson said each year, they see a few changes to the dietary guidelines the USDA sets.

She said both sugar and sodium will see an even larger decrease by 2027.

Thorson added that they will also need to document goods they buy from non-domestic sources.

“When we purchase products over the course of a year, only 10% can be from non-domestic sources,” said Thorson.
